The official website dedicated to the work of Clive Head since 2007
Landau Contemporary is proud to present our first solo exhibition of 2021 featuring new works by revered British artist CLIVE HEAD. THE PARLOUR PAINTINGS will be on view from February 17-26, 2021.
Head’s career is marked by abrupt changes of direction as much as it is by an incremental development driven by a Modernist spirit to reach forward into the unknown. For the previous two decades, Head’s practice was best summarised as that of an investigative realist, whose works were infused with an elegant and subtle fracturing of physical, temporal and spatial principles.
In the last year, however, Head has drawn on his experience of being confined to his studio, being at home, and being in his garden to focus inward and reflect on his career. Through that lens, he discovered a novel approach to figuration, which has flourished in The Parlour Paintings as he gained a greater understanding of his capabilities for imagination and invention. “There’s a great deal of mystery to come to terms with, and that was the principle behind The Parlour Paintings,” says the artist.
We are pleased to present you with a guided tour of eight paintings and two works on paper from the series that are introduced and discussed by the artist himself. Please click the link below to visit the online viewing room.
